About Us
The Sutton Coldfield Society of Artists was formed in 1947 to encourage painting as a recreation in Sutton Coldfield. The Society has now grown to over 120 members and has established itself as one of the principal art societies in the Midlands providing a focus for artists of all abilities to learn, practise and develop their artistic skills.
The Society organises a programme of monthly art demonstrations and practical art days held on a Saturday at The Methodist Church Hall, South Parade, Sutton Coldfield. On the practical art days members have the opportunity to paint from still life, from a live model or pursue their own work.
Exhibitions of members work are the focal point for the Society and these are currently held each Spring and Autumn at the Sutton Coldfield Town Hall for nine days. Various awards are presented for best 2D and 3D art work. Exhibitions are well attended by the public and have become a popular event on the social calendar.
